NIRWN meet with Tánaiste Simon Coveney
NIRWN met with Tánaiste Simon Coveney on January 3rd to discuss how Brexit and the EU Withdrawal is impacting on women now and the potential future impacts. We raised the need for the Irish government to clarify what details they could as soon as they could as lack of facts creates more fear. One issue we highlighted was the need for the Irish government to make their position on Higher Education fees for NI students clear for the incoming academic year. On January 4th the following statement was released by the Irish government here confirming students from Northern Ireland starting university in the Republic of Ireland in 2019 will not have to pay higher tuition fees. Those fee arrangements will be maintained for the entire duration of their course.
NIRWN also shared a copy of our ‘Rural Voices’ Report with the Tánaiste and Department for Foreign Affairs
