STEP’s Big Lottery funder BME/Traveller Family Support Project has been running since September 2016 and already we have supported over twenty families. Ten families have been matched with a key Support worker who helps to identify and address those issues that are causing the family stress. We have lots of activities and events planned for 2017 for the project so watch this space!
All families are invited to a Consultation Event on Monday 16th January at 10.00a.m. in the Junction. We really want to hear from you how we can meet your needs and provide you the best possible service. What courses are you interested in? What day and time is most suitable? Would you enjoy meeting other families to share experiences over a cuppa? Come and tell us what you need.
In the New Year, we are planning to run a short Parentalk Course to give parents the opportunity to get together and talk about the realities of bringing up their children. In sharing your experiences, you will be able to see in a very practical way the things that work and the things that don’t! Hopefully by the end of this six week course you will have discovered a range of tips to help with family
As we approach Christmas remember as a parent to find some time for yourself. Be realistic in what is possible and spread the treats over the entire holiday period. The important thing is to spend some quality family time together. A walk together in the fresh air costs nothing and allows children to let off some steam! The holidays are a time for relaxing but try not to stray too far from normal bedtimes routines.
STEP will be closed from Friday 23rd of December and reopens Tuesday 4th January 2017.
